I just got All I Want from Netflix and watched it all the way through and all the special features, etc., with another Rufus fan. See some stills from it in my photos, and guess who my avatar is now?

There's some great footage of him and Martha playing around as young teenagers, him singing in a high school production, and various interviews and commentary on his music from him, his family and friends, people like Elton John, the Scissor Sisters, Tom Chaplin from Keane, Martha, Kate, etc. Wow. Go out and get it now . . .

***

Hey People:

As you know, CA is so close to the passage of a same-sex marriage bill. All that is needed now is the Governor's signature. Even though he's threatened to veto it, he HASN'T yet. Here is an opportunity to tell him that the people of CA are for legalizing same-sex marriage. So please call him! It only takes a few seconds.

Call his office at (916) 445-2841 and follow these simple steps. (You don't even have to talk to anyone!)

1. Press "2" to comment on legislation
2. Press "1" to comment on AB 849 (AB 849 is the gender neutral bill that will allow same-sex couples to marry)
3. Press "1" to support it

I assume the 'radical right' is also calling. So please forward this to your friends and family who might lend their support.

I ask that you do this so that when I might actually find a partner or a mate I'll have the same rights (and responsibilities) as any other legally married couple. This would mean that I could visit my lover (whatever gender they are) in the hospital and make choices on their care if they are incapacitated currently reserved for "family only" critical situations. Please take action and make the call NOW before you forget!

If you aren't supportive of this due to some religious or social dogma I hope that you allow apathy to prevail and do nothing. Many thanks for your lack of action.

Thanks to everyone for paying attention!

The whole thing had a very relaxed feeling to it because I don't think he plays solo very often and he was messing up some. There were two encores and he played 'art teacher', 'this love affair' and 'gay messiah' off of waiting for a want. It was so great to hear those songs. My French isn't so good, but he was saying that 'art teacher' is more or less based on an art teacher that he had, he just changed it to be a female student. 'gay messiah' he said was inspired by the movie passion of the christ and the movement to have an anti- gay marriage amendment to the constitution. He also said he was mugged in the metro station earlier that day. Me and my friend saw him on the street the night before. He looked melancholy, roaming the crowded streets of the Marais. We wanted to talk to him, but you know...

He made so many asides and jokes and it was so cool to hear he actually spent time the night before in Northampton MA at a cafe I frequent. He is small man and he has this really neat floppy hair :) He seemed genuinely suprised that he was so appreciated. He milked the whole being gay thing in a good natured way and played a song I never have heard called "The Gay Messiah" which was really funny. He joked when he reached those high powerful notes in many of his songs that he should have a cape for being a superhero. His passion was so strong and I loved the way his head went back as if he was in ecstasy during some of his songs. That man's voice was so powerful and so beautiful.... he is right up there with Bowie and Jeff Buckley in my book. I was so happy he sang "Go or Go Ahead" which is my favorite song of his from his new cd. I am so glad I saw him and in such a place as I did where I could get fairly close so I could really see him. Forget reports I heard that he was cocky..he was adorable :) I hope all of you are lucky enough to see him live :)
